KLANG (Dec 10): Top Glove Corp Bhd chairman Tan Sri Dr Lim Wee Chai said today it's business as usual for the group and its supply with the UK’s National Health Service (NHS) is going on as usual, despite allegations of forced labour made in the UK’s The Guardian newspaper yesterday.

“There are no issues with the UK’s NHS, its the news reported [by the Guardian]. NHS have been sending teams to audit us every year, and will continue do so.

“There is no suspension of supply to the UK, all this is because of the inaccurate news report. The report needs to be corrected,, they [The Guardian] even reported our net profit is almost 1 billion British pounds, which is not true. They did not do their homework, these reporters should be sacked,” he told a press conference at Top Glove’s Factory 25 here today.

Lim said the contributions from supply to the UK’s NHS is minimal to Top Glove.

“The NHS is not our direct customer, they are a customer of our customer, and the contribution is very small, Its less than 0.5% of sales,” he added.

Also present was Human Resources Minister Kula Segaran who said a letter will be sent to the Guardian newspaper to address the allegations made in its article.

Top Glove shares closed 35 sen or 5.93% lower at RM5.55 today, with 22.26 million shares done, bringing it a market capitalisation of RM14.19 billion.
