KUALA LUMPUR (May 13): On the cover, fashion’s favourite artist Donald Robertson — beloved by brands and celebs alike (Beyoncé is a big fan) — talks about his latest collaboration, this time with Weekend Max Mara, which comprises a whimsical signature collection named "Flutterflies".

The collaboration came about during a "play date" in Robertson’s studio in Santa Monica, California.

Upon seeing all the fun things he was working on in his workspace, including his shelves of colourful gaffer tape, the team behind Weekend Max Mara decided to work on a collection that features a vibrant palette and cheerful motifs centred around the everlasting charm of the butterfly.

More on fashion, Chanel recently launched a punk-tinged cruise collection, which draws inspiration from the timeless artistry of Jean Cocteau and the quiet rebellion of Mademoiselle Coco.

For its recent autumn/winter 2021 collection, creative director Virginie Viard assembled memories of the late Karl Lagerfeld that Dutch photography duo Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin translated into film.

The collection highlighted tweed coats with structured shoulders and the chevron motif on models walking across the streets, with footage including some of them getting ready at Castel, the resto-bar where the film was shot.

Other stories you should not miss: Bruichladdich ambassador Chloe Wood on how the whisky maker mastered the rules just to break them; as well as Elaine Ong Yi Ling, the founder of home-grown brand Asli by E, on pivoting from bags to earrings with bold, contrasting hues.
