Datuk Seri Najib Razak, through his legal team led by Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, last Friday filed in the Court of Appeal for a stay of the start of the court hearing this Tuesday on the seven charges he faces involving SRC International Sdn Bhd (see also Page 21).

The move is nothing more than an attempt to delay and prevent Malaysians from knowing the full details of the charges made against him more than six months ago. The seven are the first set of 42 charges that have been made against the former prime minister.

Najib has pleaded not guilty to all the charges and continues to maintain his innocence in the face of global investigations into the 1MDB scandal, which the US Department of Justice has described as the biggest case of kleptocracy it has ever uncovered.

Muhammad Shafee, who has also been charged with money laundering involving funds that originated in 1MDB, has consistently boasted that he will easily win the case for his client. If that is the case, why dilly-dally?

Let the trial proceed. After all, justice delayed is justice denied.
