KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 30): Genting Bhd has announced the retirement of three non-independent executive directors.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Genting said former inspector-general of police (IGP) Tun Mohammed Hanif Omar will step down as deputy chairman of the group and retire from the board on Dec 31.

"Tan Sri Dr Lin See Yan and Datuk Chin Kwai Yoong will retire as independent non-executive directors at the conclusion of the next annual general meeting of Genting next year. They are not seeking for re-election," it added.

According to Genting's Annual Report 2017, Mohammed Hanif, 79, was appointed as deputy chairman on Feb 23, 1994. He was the IGP for 20 years before retiring in January 1994, having joined as an officer in 1959.

He is also the deputy chairman of Genting Malaysia Bhd and sits on the board of AMFB Holdings Bhd and Measat Global Bhd.

Lin, 78, joined the board of Genting on Nov 28, 2001. Prior to 1998, he was chairman and president and CEO of Pacific Bank Group and for 14 years previously, he was the deputy governor of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).

Chin, 69, meanwhile, joined Genting's board on Aug 23, 2007. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and a member of the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. He is currently a director of BNM and Deleum Bhd.
