KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 31): Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) will be embarking on upgrading works of the Kuala Lumpur International Airport's (KLIA) communication infrastructure starting from Jan 1.

In a statement today, the airport operator said the initiative — meant to enhance overall coverage and capacity of the airport's cellular network — is expected to be completed in phases over three months.

"The upgrade is meant to further enhance the airport experience at KUL (KLIA) and will improve the overall coverage and capacity of the cellular network at the airport. It is also to cater for future digitalisation requirements such as Airports 4.0 initiatives, the e-commerce ecosystem and the Aeropolis development," MAHB said.

It said mitigation plans have been put in place to ensure smooth transition and limit any intermittent disruption in terms of reception and speed on the cellular and leased line services within the passenger and cargo terminals during the upgrading.

At the noon break today, MAHB rose eight sen or 0.96% higher at RM8.38, valuing the group at RM13.85 billion.
