KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): A total of 124,618 Covid-19 vaccine doses were administered throughout the nation yesterday (June 11), bringing the total doses administered to 4.23 million, according to data from the Covid-19 Vaccine Supply Access Guarantee Special Committee (JKJAV) today.

The number of vaccine doses administered, however, was a drop from the 157,949 doses given out on Thursday (June 10). It was also short of the daily target of 150,000 doses that National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme Coordinating Minister Khairy Jamaluddin set previously.

Of the 124,618 doses of vaccines given out yesterday, 94,558 were to individuals who received their first dose, while the remainder were to 30,060 individuals who got their second jab.

As of yesterday, a total of 1.30 million Malaysians had been fully vaccinated, while 1.63 million individuals had received only one jab.

Kuala Lumpur reported the highest number of individuals who had received their first dose at 505,498, followed by Selangor (438,103), Sarawak (276,166), Johor (271,268) and Perak (227,120).

Meanwhile, Selangor had the highest number of fully inoculated individuals at 170,855, followed by Sarawak (133,516), Kuala Lumpur (122,564),  Perak (121,740), Johor (118,317) and Sabah (105,720).

Malaysia's daily number of confirmed Covid-19 cases rose to 6,849 yesterday, from 5,671 the day before. The number of active cases, however, dropped to 78,864 from 79,848 on Thursday as the number of newly recovered individuals came in at 7,749 — outpacing the new confirmed infections. The highest number of active cases, which carry high transmission risk, was 86,628, recorded on June 6.

Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 patients in intensive care units (ICUs) rose to a new high of 912 yesterday, of whom 458 needed the aid of ventilators to breathe. As of yesterday, Covid-19 linked deaths in the country stood at 3,768.
