SINGAPORE (Dec 13): Singapore’s plans to introduce an Instrument Landing System for Seletar Airport will not pose any safety or security risks to operations at Johor’s Pasir Gudang port, Straits Times cites Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan.

* Khaw was responding to a Facebook video by his Malaysian counterpart Anthony Loke, who claimed that the port would encounter higher risks due to height restrictions that Singapore wants to set for Seletar’s ILS

* ILS is a tool for the pilot and the pilot can always manually intervene if security concerns require it: Khaw

* Situation seems to be a technical excuse to trigger demand to change the airspace arrangement: Khaw

* In a separate statement, Singapore Ministry of Transport says instrumental flight procedures for both the northerly and southerly approaches into Seletar Airport are necessary

** Malaysia’s suggestion that implementing procedures for a notherly approach into Seletar airport is a clear violation of its sovereignity is not true, Singapore Transport Ministry says
