NAUTURE has provided us with a myriad of natural healing ingredients that can be used to ease common ailments. Instead of running to the doctor first and burning a hole in your pocket, why not try some of the simple remedies below from the International Journal of Scientific and Research Publications (http://www.ijsrp.org/). They are probably already in your kitchen or fridge anyway. And even if they aren’t, it is much cheaper than a doctor’s visit. However, a word of caution ... if your ailment is serious, see a doctor.

Stomach discomfort
Crush some aloe vera leaves (carefully remove the thorns first) and mix it with yogurt/curd. Eat twice a day for effective results.

Enteric infections (an intestinal infection)
Juice a ripened bael fruit — also known as Bengal quince, golden apple, stone apple, wood apple, bili — and drink mixed with water or milk. Consume until symptoms reduce.

Skin infections
Crush a few cloves of garlic until it becomes a paste. Then apply onto affected area of the skin periodically until the infection reduces and goes away. Try on a little to see if your skin is comfortable with the application before applying generously.

Dry skin
Heat up some peanut oil on medium fire and apply the slightly heated oil on the areas that are dry. Repeat and apply as necessary. Make sure to test the oil’s temperature before applying it.

Vomiting
Pound some coriander seeds into powder and let it steep in a glass of milk or water for about five minutes, then add a teaspoonful of sugar. Sip on it and have it once a day until the vomiting stops.

Minor skin burns
Cut a slice of raw potato and rub it on the burn area, making sure the juice from the potato is releasing over the area. Use this remedy soon after the burn occurs for best results.

ginger

Cold
Grate a young ginger until you get a tea spoonful. Mix the ginger with two to three drops of honey and consume just before you go to bed.

Loose stools
Instead of popping medicines, first try mashing a banana and mixing it with roasted chick pea powder. Consume this mixture twice a day for results.

Sore throat
Mix a teaspoon of salt into a warm glass of water and let it dissolve. Gargle the solution and allow it to reach the back of the throat as much as possible without swallowing it. Repeat until the throat feels rested.

Gastric
Add half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a cup of warm milk. Stir well until it dissolves and drink. You can add a little bit of honey to the mix if you want to.
