KUALA LUMPUR: Sixteen corporate captains were shortlisted last night for the finals of the Malaysian chapter of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 award.

The nominees for the Master Entrepreneur category are Datuk Tan Say Jim of Iris Corp Bhd, Datuk Kho Kak Beng of KKB Engineering Bhd and Goh Peng Ooi of Silverlake Axis Ltd.

For the Women Entrepreneur category, Pat Liew of BTC Clothier Sdn Bhd, Jerene Pang of Coolblog Group of Companies and Ebby Loo of Euro-Atlantic Sdn Bhd are among the six shortlisted. The other three nominees are Anne Kung of Instacom Engineering Sdn Bhd, Adelaine Foo of The Otomotif College Sdn Bhd and Dr Soraya Ismail of Vitality Boost Sdn Bhd.

In the Technology Entrepreneur category, Ivan Teh of Fusionex Corp Sdn Bhd is among the three nominees shortlisted for the final round. The other two are Seah Kian Hoe of Heng Hiap Industries Sdn Bhd and Liew Choon Lian of MDT Innovations Sdn Bhd.

In the category for Emerging Entrepreneur, the four shortlisted are Datuk Chevy Beh of BP Diagnostic Centre Sdn Bhd, Datuk Lawrence Teo of I Synergy Universal Sdn Bhd, Datuk Calvin Khiu Fu Siang of MK Wedding Sdn Bhd and Timothy Tiah of Nom Nom Media Sdn Bhd.

The winners of the four categories and the Malaysian EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 will be announced at a gala event in December.

The Malaysian winner will join country award recipients from around the world in Monte Carlo in June 2015 to compete for the EY World Entrepreneur of the Year award.

“These entrepreneurs have helped create employment and generate industry growth, and are a key driving force in the economic development of the nation,” Ernst & Young (EY) country managing partner for Malaysia Datuk Abdul Rauf Rashid told reporters at the EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2014 top nominees announcement.

“We are particularly pleased by the number of nominations received for the Women Entrepreneur category. It is timely that more women entrepreneurs are stepping forward to be recognised,” EY Malaysia advisory partner Philip Rao said.
