KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 21): Carrier-neutral data centre operator AIMS Group is the only Malaysian data centre recognised as one of the most influential in Asia by Cloudscene for the second time running.

In a statement today, AIMS Group said rankings are derived from data centre market density (number of facilities) and connectivity (PoPs) based on independent industry data from the world’s largest database of colocation facilities and service providers.

It said the top players in each region were selected from a pool of more than 5,300 global service providers with the ranked operators managing more than 17,000 POPs, over 8% of those in Asia.

AIMS chief executive officer Chiew Kok Hin said the company’s efforts paid off and that it had moved up the ranks from eighth place in the first quarter to seventh.

Chiew said AIMS’ flagship facility in Kuala Lumpur recently became the first Amazon Web Services (AWS) Direct Connect location in Malaysia.

He said businesses operating in the country are now able to establish a dedicated network connection to AWS’ secure cloud service platform from on-premises data centres, offices or colocation facilities, resulting in lower network cost, increase bandwidth throughput and a more consistent network experience.

“Our emphasis on creating an ecosystem that is mutually beneficial to our vendors and customers has pushed us to where we are today, and we will continue to focus on bringing the latest technologies and innovations to the fore,” he said.
