KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 4): AirAsia X Bhd has launched its multi-city booking option, which allows customers to make reservations for up to six flights through a single transaction.

In a statement today, long-haul budget airline AirAsia X said the flight booking option was to ease the reservation process for those planning to fly across the airline's network.

“We are excited to introduce the latest enhancement in our booking engine with multi-city booking option.

"Now, our guests will be able to book multiple destinations, take advantage of trip breaks and stopovers all in one booking," said AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman-Rani.

AirAsia X's network covers destinations across Australia, China, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Saudi Arabia.

According to Azran, the multi-city booking option would make it easier for AirAsia X customers to manage their travel plans.

The system allows customers to arrive and depart from different ports under a seamless booking process, which benefits from the airline's network.

"This is part of our commitment to provide a seamless booking experience to our guests,” he said.

The launch of the multi-city booking option comes at a time when AirAsia X has been registering weaker financials.

The company reported a net loss of RM210.85 million in the third quarter ended September 30, 2014 from a net profit of RM26.44 million a year earlier.

Cumulative nine-month net loss came to RM350.92 million versus a net profit of RM44.34 million.

At 12.30pm today, AirAsia X shares fell two sen or 3% to settle at 65 sen, valuing the firm at RM1.54 billion.

The stock had lost 35% this year versus the FBM KLCI's 6% decline.
