PETALING JAYA (Nov 19): Axis Real Estate Investment Trust (Axis REIT) shareholders approved its proposed acquisition of three industrial properties in Shah Alam, Selangor for RM280.5 million.

Including the three properties and purchase of another entity in Johor Bahru for RM153.5 million, Axis REIT's assets under management will comprise 34 properties with a combined value of some RM2.08 billion, according to Datuk Stewart LaBrooy, chief executive officer of Axis-REIT Managers Bhd.

Axis-REIT Managers is the manager of Axis REIT. The latter currently has 30 properties valued at RM1.64 billion.

"We are still in negotiations for our Penang asset purchase, and we are also looking at a couple of other assets as well,whereby we hope to finalise these deals within the next three to six months," LaBrooy told reporters after Axis REIT's extraordinary general meeting today.

At 2.59pm, Axis REIT shares fell five sen or 1.4% to RM3.60 for a market value of RM1.67 billion.
