KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): Mechanical and electrical (M&E) engineering services specialist Bintai Kinden Corp Bhd has secured a project worth RM39 million from Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) for the installation of a 132 kilovolt (kV) underground cable double circuit.

The cable circuit, or 132kV XLPE cable system, will be installed from the PMU Financial Center to the GDS Data Center substation in Nusajaya, Johor. This new XLPE cable comprises two circuits and three phases, with one cable of 1,600mm2 copper per phase, said Bintai Kinden in a statement.

The project was secured via Bintai Kinden's wholly owned Kejuruteraan Bintai Kindenko Sdn Bhd (KBK). The letter of award was received on Friday (Nov 25). KBK has 319 days from commencement to complete the project.

Bintai Kinden executive director Azri Azerai said the latest project award from TNB reflects the opportunities for the company from the country's economic growth momentum.

“We are also committed to growing our range of expertise and are constantly looking to diversify as we transform to become a conglomerate through investing in unique and niche businesses with huge earnings accretive potential,” he added.  

Bintai Kinden shares closed unchanged at 9.5 sen on Friday, for a market capitalisation of RM81 million.
