KUALA LUMPUR (Apr 13): Axiata Group Bhd has promoted PT XL Axiata Tbk deputy chief exective officer Dian Siswarini to president director, replacing Hasnul Suhaimi who is retiring.

"With close to 20 years of experience in the telecommunications industry in both the technology and operations side, Dian will play a crucial role in the next phase of XL’s growth to face the future challenges and changing dynamics of the telecommunications industry," said Axiata in a statement today.

It added that the promotion is part of the group’s ongoing efforts to strengthen management at its operating companies, with a focus on recruiting the best talent.

Dian began her career with XL in 1996 and started as a radio network design engineer. During her time with the company she has served in various positions including network director, and in 2011, she took the position of director and chief of digital services.

Before assuming her current role, Dian served as group chief of marketing and operations officer at Axiata.

Axiata president and group CEO Datuk Seri Jamaludin Ibrahim said Dian is the group's first female CEO.

"Given her experience in the industry and within the group, Dian will play a crucial role in XL’s future growth, already successfully begun under Hasnul’s leadership," he said.
