KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 20): Billionaire Elon Musk has kept mum on whether he will remain as the head of Twitter Inc, after the social media’s users voted that he should step down.

Musk on Sunday (Dec 18) asked Twitter users: “Should I step down as the head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll.”

In the poll that closed after 12 hours, a clear verdict was delivered with 57.5% voting for a resounding “YES”, and 42.5% “NO”.

However, despite having told users that he would abide by the vote, there was no follow-up from Musk on the matter as of the time of writing.

In the period since he acquired Twitter, Musk has lost the title as the richest man on the planet to Bernard Arnault, and is now second on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a fortune of US$155 billion (RM687.42 billion), while his Tesla Inc has seen its market capitalisation fall below US$500 billion.
