KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 30): Malaysia’s Energy Commission, which has granted Bina Puri Holdings Bhd’s wholly-owned subsidiary BP Energy Sdn Bhd (BPE) an offer acceptance letter to undertake the development of a 5MWac large scale solar photovoltaic (LSSPV) plant in Kunak, Sabah, has revised the commercial operation date of the plant to Dec 31, 2022.

The Energy Commission is also known as Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST).

Bina Puri said in a Bursa Malaysia filing today: "The company wishes to announce that by a letter of notification to BPE dated Nov 16, 2020, ST has revised the commercial operation date of the LSSPV plant to Dec 31, 2022.

"BPE is currently in the midst of finalising the terms and conditions of the solar power purchase agreement for ST approval.”

Bina Puri, which did not indicate the original commercial operation date of the LSSPV plant, said its Bursa filing today is pursuant to the company's announcement dated Dec 18, 2017 to the exchange.

On that day, Bina Puri said BPE had accepted the ST’s initial offer acceptance letter on Dec 4, 2017 to undertake the development of the LSSPV plant on a build-own-operate basis.

"This is Bina Puri’s first power project in Malaysia after the successful listing of its subsidiary (BPE) on the Indonesia Stock Exchange,” Bina Puri said then.

On Bursa today, Bina Puri’s share price closed unchanged at 9.5 sen for a market capitalisation of about RM81.45 million. The stock saw some 18 million shares traded.
