KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 16): Stocks in the energy sector of Bursa Malaysia retreated in the mid-morning on Tuesday (Aug 16) as oil prices fell, extending losses from the previous session, after economic data from China, the world's largest crude importer, spurred fresh concerns about a potential global recession that could hit energy demand.

At the time of writing, Hibiscus Petroleum Bhd had fallen 1.76% or 1.5 sen to 83.5 sen, Sapura Energy Bhd lost 10% or half a sen to 4.5 sen, Bumi Armada Bhd dipped 1.39% or half a sen to 35.5 sen, Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd lost 5.26% or half a sen to nine sen, Hengyuan Refining Company Bhd shed 0.73% or three sen to RM4.08, and Carimin Petroleum Bhd fell 2.68% or 1.5 sen to 54.5 sen.
