KUALA LUMPUR (Mar 17): The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) disclosed today that an enquiry chaired by its former chairman Datuk Seri Azmi Khalid had been conducted on the controversial investment by 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) in PetroSaudi International Ltd back in 2012.

"By the way, 1MDB has been discussed in the previous PAC before this.

"There have been two hearings on 1MDB by the PAC when the chairman was Azmi Khalid and I was a member of PAC," current PAC chairman Datuk Nur Jazlan Mohamed told reporters today when asked on the status of the Auditor-General's (A-G) investigations on 1MDB.

However, he noted that despite the hearings being held and attended by 1MDB founding managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Shahrol Halmi, the previous PAC committee did not table its findings to parliament.

On March 4, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had ordered the A-G to conduct an independent check of 1MDB's accounts. The A-G's report will subsequently be handed over to PAC for inspection.
