KUALA LUMPUR (May 26): Former Employees Provident Fund (EPF) chief executive officer (CEO) Tunku Alizakri Raja Muhammad Alias will be appointed independent and non-executive director of Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) effective next Wednesday (June 1, 2022).

According to PetDag's Bursa Malaysia filings on Thursday (May 26, 2022), Alizakri's appointment is among several boardroom changes effective next Wednesday (June 1, 2022) at PetDag, which is the retail arm of Malaysian national oil company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas).

PetDag also announced Mohd Yuzaidi Mohd Yusoff's appointment as independent and non-executive director besides Datuk Sazali Hamzah's appointment as non-independent and non-executive director.

Meanwhile, PetDag said Ahmad Adly Alias will resign as PetDag non-independent and non-executive director.

On Alizakri, Petronas said he is currently the chairman of Malaysia Venture Capital Management Bhd (MAVCAP).

"He also sits on the board of notable public and public-listed companies such as Sime Darby Plantation Bhd, IHH Healthcare Bhd, Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Bumi Armada Bhd as well as Prudential BSN Takaful Bhd," PetDag said.

On Ahmad Adly, PetDag said his resignation is "due to staff mobility" within Petronas.

"On May 26, 2022, the board of directors of Petronas Dagangan noted the resignation of Ahmad Adly as a non-independent non-executive director of the company to be effective on June 1, 2022," PetDag said.

At 5pm on Thursday (May 26, 2022), PetDag's share price closed 18 sen or 0.85% lower at RM21.12, which gives the company a market capitalisation of about RM20.98 billion.

PetDag has 993.45 million outstanding shares, according to the company's website.
