With Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s SRC International trial coming to an end soon, his legal team has started to show what his defence is going to be.

In cross-examining the last prosecution witness, Rosli Hussain of the MACC, Najib’s lawyers had put it to the lead investigator that it was Low Taek Jho and accomplices like Nik Faisal Nik Kamil and Terence Geh who were the culprits behind the transfer of millions of ringgit from the various bank accounts. They put it to him that Najib was never aware that the money he received in his bank accounts and spent had originated from SRC International.

In short, Najib’s defence is one of ignorance, and he had thought the money was a donation from a mysterious Saudi prince.

Rosli, however, stood his ground and said that unlike Najib, who had used the money, Jho Low did not receive any of the RM42 million SRC International cash. Neither did any money go to Nik Faisal and Geh, who, like Jho Low, are fugitives.

Jho Low had, via his PR company, vigorously denied any accusation of wrongdoing by investigators. However, he has maintained his silence even as Najib’s lawyers continue to accuse him of being behind the crimes the former prime minister has been charged with.

Jho Low obviously believes that keeping silent and not coming out to deny the accusations made in court against him can strengthen Najib’s defence, which is, innocent by ignorance.
