KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 26): Loss-making G3 Global Bhd, formerly Yen Global Bhd, has appointed Datuk Seri Aminul Islam Abdul Nor as executive director of the apparel and information and communications technology (ICT) solutions company with immediate effect.

According to G3 Global's bourse filings, Aminul Islam, 54, is presently the president and group chief executive officer of JR Joint Resources Holdings Sdn Bhd, a company mainly involved in the outsourcing and employment services industry. He is also the founder and group president of information technology company Bestinet Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of JR Group.

Aminul Islam is the father of Muhammad Qhailiz Norman Aminul Islam, who is a substantial shareholder of G3 Global with a 16.52% stake as at Feb 12, 2021.

On the same day, Kunal Tayal, 33, the chief financial officer of Bestinet, was appointed non-independent and non-executive director of G3 Global.

The group also announced the resignation of two of its non-independent and non-executive directors, namely Datuk Khan Mohd Akram Khan, 51, and Ahmad Rizan Ibrahim, 58. G3 Global cited "to pursue other interests and opportunities" as the reason for Khan Mohd's departure, while that of Ahmad Rizan was due to "other professional commitments".

As part of its plan to improve profitability, G3 Global had on Sept 8 acquired a 51% stake in Bestinet Healthcare Sdn Bhd for RM51,000 to venture into the potential sale of antigen kits. Bestinet Healthcare is in the business of selling pharmaceutical, medicine and health products, and is also an investment holding company.

G3 Global shares closed down 2 sen or 15.38% at 11 sen on Friday, bringing a market capitalisation of RM229.56 million.
