KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 8): The government is currently looking into bringing the dispute with the European Union (EU) over its Delegated Act on Biofuels to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

When asked at the parliament lobby, Primary Industries Minister Teresa Kok said the Attorney-General's Chambers (AGC) is currently looking into taking the dispute to the WTO.

"I am waiting for the AGC. They are doing the study and preparations. [Over when this will happen], well I have to wait for them, maybe by the end of the year. You will have to ask the AG on that," she said.

This comes in as both Malaysia and Indonesia are looking to dispute the the EU's Delegated Act on Biofuels through the WTO, as they view the Act as discriminatory towards palm oil.

In a recent interview with The Edge Financial Daily, EU Ambassador and Delegation Head Maria Castillo Fernandez said the delegated act would eventually phase out subsidies for palm oil-derived biofuels by 2030, and would start in 2023.
