Notable filings

Between Oct 5 and 9, notable shareholder changes at companies listed on Bursa Malaysia included the emergence of Fantastic Hallmark Sdn Bhd as a substantial shareholder in construction and property development company Sycal Ventures Bhd (fundamental: 1.50; valuation: 2.10).

According to Sycal’s filings with Bursa, Fantastic Hallmark acquired 17.01 million shares or a 5.3% stake on Oct 2. Mohd Wazir Khalid and Suzanna Mohd Nor are deemed interested in Fantastic Hallmark.

Sycal’s 2014 annual report indicates that its largest individual shareholder is Datuk Seow Yong Chin, who owns a 16.5% stake through his shareholding in SYC Holdings Sdn Bhd and Cygal Holdings Sdn Bhd, followed by Syed Zain Al-Kudcy Syed Mahmood with 5.7% equity interest.

Elsewhere, Kim Feng Capital Sdn Bhd emerged as a major shareholder of Emas Kiara Industries Bhd (fundamental: 0.95; valuation: 0.30) through a series of share acquisitions between Oct 2 and 12. Kim Feng acquired 

5.35 million or 5.8% of Emas Kiara’s issued shares on Oct 2, ending with a 15% stake 10 days later.

On the day that Kim Feng started acquiring Emas Kiara shares, Lim Yew Hoe ceased to be a substantial shareholder in the company after he disposed of five million shares or a 5.4% stake. Similarly, Tan Sri Kamaruzzaman Shariff sold four million shares on Oct 12.

Sim See Kiong and Cindi Sim are listed as having equity interest in Kim Feng. Besides his shareholding through Kim Feng, See Kiong holds 3.47 million Emas Kiara shares, bringing his total stake in the geotechnical and engineering services company to 18.8% as at Oct 13.

At Only World Group Holdings Bhd, its largest shareholder, through Rich Dad Café Sdn Bhd, disposed of six million shares or a 3.24% stake on Oct 2. It sold another 10 million shares on Oct 7, paring its holding to 59.4%.

Filings with Bursa list Datuk Koh Cheng Keong and Datin Chew Lean Hong as the largest shareholders in Only World through Rich Dad. Only World operates the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not museum in Genting Highlands and the Wet World water theme park chain.

On Oct 2, Focus Edge Indices Corp, a British Virgin Islands-incorporated company, acquired 6.8 million shares or a 1.7% stake in Tanah Makmur Bhd at RM1.40 apiece. Filings show Focus Edge is owned by Datuk Seri Tengku Faisal Tengku Ibrahim. The acquisition raised Focus Edge’s stake in Tanah Makmur to 5.3%.

On the same day, Pahang Tengku Mahkota, Tengku Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, disposed of 3.75 million shares or a 0.94% stake at RM1.40 apiece on the market. As at Oct 2, his shareholding stood at 35.2%. 

Between Oct 2 and 12, Datuk Seri Tengku Uzir Tengku Ubaidillah sold a total of 5.4 million shares, leaving him with a 14.5% stake in the Pahang-based plantation and property player as at Oct 12.

 

Notable movements

Tex Cycle Technology (M) Bhd’s (fundamental: 2.25; valuation: 0.50) share price rose 153% over five weeks to close at RM1.24 last Tuesday as trading interest picked up substantially from Sept 3. Year to date, the stock has appreciated 149.2% in value.

Tex Cycle’s largest shareholders, Ho Siew Choong, Ho Siew Weng and Ho Siew Cheong, through Can Cycle Sdn Bhd, took profit during this time. Filings show they sold five million shares or a 2.96% stake to institutional funds at RM1.20 apiece on Oct 6.

At AHB Holdings Bhd (fundamental: 1.65; valuation: 0.90), major shareholder Yong Yoke Keong acquired 4.74 million shares or a 2.96% stake on Oct 1 at 17 sen apiece. As at Oct 5, his shareholding in AHB had increased to 18.3% from 13.6% on Sept 28.

Between Oct 5 and 9, AHB’s share price rose 8.1% to 20 sen. Year to date, the stock has risen 38% and appreciated 60% from its 52-week low of 12.5 sen on Dec 16 last year.
