KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 23): The main index at Bursa Malaysia extended its gains in early trade Monday as Public Bank Bhd and index-linked glove makers advanced, tracking higher regional markets.

At 9.05am, the FBM KLCI added 4.40 points to 1,598.15.

The early gainers included Nestle (M) Bhd, Public Bank, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Petronas Dagangan Bhd, Scientex Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd and Petronas Gas Bhd.

Bloomberg said stocks began the week with little fanfare, edging higher across the Asia Pacific as traders monitored developments on progress toward a vaccine.

The pound ticked up, it said.

Kenanga Research said on the weekly technical review, the key FBM KLCI index touched an intra-week high of 1,613 last Tuesday before losing steam to end at 1,594 on Friday.

It said this was just slightly above the preceding week’s closing of 1,590.

“On the chart, after breaking past the 50-day SMA and a descending trendline, the FBMKLCI appears toppish following the emergence of a potential double-top formation,” it said.
