KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 28): The main index at Bursa Malaysia ticked higher in early trade Monday, tracking the modest gains at regional markets.

At 9.05am, the benchmark FBM KLCI added 0.30 points to 1,509.44.

The early gainers included Kossan Rubber Industries Bhd, Malaysian Pacific Industries Bhd, Latitude Tree Holdings Bhd, Supermax Corp Bhd, Bursa Malaysia Bhd, Top Glove Corp Bhd, UWC Bhd, Lotte Chemical Titan Holding Bhd, SCGM Bhd and Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Bhd.

Bloomberg said U.S. equity-index futures began the week with modest gains along with stocks in Asia as investors weighed further signs of recovery in China against more virus outbreaks in some parts of the world.

Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd in its daily market report said US markets rallied as investors buy the dip with tech stocks leading the rise as Wall Street attempts to recover from its recent steep correction.

Nonetheless, it said Dow Jones settled above 27,000 level while the Nasdaq is whisker away from 11,000 level and S&P 500 at 3,300 level.

“Regional markets this week should see positive bias upwards taking cue from US markets.

“Meanwhile on our local market, it is likely to see follow through buying interest in the glove and healthcare related stocks such as (PPE and face mask) and vaccine stock as the Covid-19 numbers continue to rise globally and locally.

“Hence, investors should take position to ride the wave of trading opportunities,” it said.
