KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): Shares in bus operator Konsortium Transnasional Bhd (KTB) climbed to a 10-month high of 22 sen on Wednesday (Oct 13) after rising three sen or 15.79% in active trade following the lifting of interstate travel restrictions.

The stock had pared some gains at 21.5 sen at 3.15pm, still up 2.5 sen or 13.16%, after trading between 19 sen and 22 sen. At 21.5 sen, it had a market value of RM87 million.

The counter was among the top 10 actively traded stocks on the local bourse as its trading volume swelled to 43.36 million shares, compared with 8.9 million shares traded the day before.

Its trading volume so far on Wednesday also exceeded its 200-day average of 3.28 million shares by more than 13 times.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said on Sunday that interstate travel nationwide would be allowed from Monday. The decision was made as the vaccination rate of Malaysia's adult population reached 90% under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong on Monday said all public transport operators in the land, air, and maritime sectors are required to ensure that their passengers are fully vaccinated as required by the standard operating procedures for interstate travel.

"All operators must ensure that all passengers or public transport users show their vaccination certificate to prove that they have been fully vaccinated," Wee said in a statement.
