KUALA LUMPUR (July 29) : LYC Healthcare Bhd's wholly-owned LYC Mother & Child Centre Sdn Bhd Sdn Bhd (LYCM) has temporarily suspended its confinement centre in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur for 14 days from July 29 till Aug 11, following the discovery of seven Covid-19 infections there.

In a bourse filing, LYC said LYCM had, on July 27, conducted Covid-19 screening tests on all its employees and customers at the confinement centre, when it discovered the seven positive cases.

LYCM subsequently suspended the centre's operations under the guidance of the Ministry of Health to carry out disinfection and sanitisation works, it said, adding it is expected to resume operations after 14 days.

"LYCM will continue to work closely with the relevant authorities to ensure the safety and health of all its employees and customers,” it said.

LYC said the temporary stoppage is not expected to have a significant impact on its revenue and earnings for the financial year ending March 31, 2022, and that its other confinement centres at other locations are unaffected and operating as normal.

It added that it will continue to strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures recommended by the authorities to curb the spread of the pandemic.

LYC Healthcare shares slipped 1 sen or 3.23% to settle at 30 sen today, which gave the company a market capitalisation of RM135.93 million.
