KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 15): Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Dr Fadhlullah Suhaimi Abdul Malek said on Friday the country's number of internet network-related complaints fell to the lowest in three quarters at 40,357 in the third quarter of 2021 (3Q21) from 58,542 in 2Q21.

Many complaints revolved around mobile internet speed in urban areas as people stayed at home, according to Dr Fadhlullah.

"The quality of 4G services remains a concern," he said.

Dr Fadhlullah was speaking at a virtual media briefing in conjunction with the publication of Jalinan Digital Negara's (JENDELA) latest quarterly report.

According to JENDELA's website, the initiative was formulated to provide wider internet coverage and better broadband quality for the people while preparing the country for 5G technology.

At the media briefing, Dr Fadhlullah said the country's user migration from 3G to 4G is progressing as 103.8% of 3Q21 migration target had been achieved.

Mobile telecommunication services and internet users are encouraged to provide feedback on providers' quality of service via the Jendela Map mobile application (app), he said.

Since the app was launched in 3Q21, the app has received around 18,250 feedback on wireless and fixed broadband, cellular telecommunication services as well as free-to-air TV.

"The users will be able to provide the information that we need so we will be able to really pinpoint where the problem is," Dr Fadhlullah said.
