KUALA LUMPUR: Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a joint venture between Daimler AG and Cycle & Carriage Bintang Bhd, plans to assemble the all-new C-class models in its manufacturing facility in Pekan, Pahang by next year, said its president and chief executive officer (CEO) Roland Folger.

“At the moment, we will be importing the all-new C-class but there are plans to assemble in our plant [in Pahang]. Of course this will depend on several factors which include demand and economic feasibility. We will make announcement once our plans are firmed-up but if all goes well, it should be ready by next year,” he told reporters after launching the all-new C-class today.

The production plant in Pekan currently assembles the S-Class (including S400L), E-Class and C-Class passenger vehicles, as well as commercial vehicles. As at end-May 2014, the plant has produced a total of 33,790 units of passenger vehicles and 18,215 units of commercial vehicles.

Excluding insurance, the on-the-road prices for the two all-new C-class models–C200 and C250–are RM285,888 and RM314,888 respectively.
