KUALA LUMPUR (Mar 17): MIC party stands united in its undivided support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak over the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) issue, says MIC vice-president Datuk M. Saravanan.

"Our stand is very clear. We will support PM on all his decisions made on 1MDB ," said Saravanan at parliament lobby today.

Saravanan was asked on the party's stand following a report alleging that longest-serving lawmaker Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah was set to speak out against Putrajaya when debating the royal address in parliament today.

The BN backbencher is said to be launching an unprecedented attack on his ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition over several issues including the 1MDB.

Saravanan also said that MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel had recently, in an open statement, supported Najib.

To recap, the MIC pledged its support recently over a directive by Najib to the Auditor-General to independently verify the accounts of the controversial 1MDB.

“MIC endorses these investigations in view of the slanderous allegations being made against the prime minister by the foreign media,  social media and bloggers,” Palanivel said in a statement recently.
