KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 13): MyCreative Ventures Sdn Bhd (MyCreative) has appointed Junady Nawawi as group chief executive officer (GCEO).

MyCreative is a government investment arm set up to spur Malaysia’s creative industry via strategic and innovative funding in the form of debt or equity investments.

In a statement, MyCreative chairman Noor Azmi Mat Said said the role of GCEO of MyCreative Ventures requires a broad range of skills including a depth of leadership experience, the ability to navigate the corridors of multiple stakeholders that include Government Ministries to make the Orange Economy matter for individuals.

“The orange economy will contribute towards achieving the Government’s aspiration for the industry to contribute RM31.9 billion to Malaysia’s gross domestic product by 2025, as outlined in the recently announced Twelfth Malaysia Plan (12MP),” Noor Azmi said.

Junady previously held various posts at entities such as BIMB Holdings Berhad, Rothschild Malaysia, UEM Group, Renong Berhad, Aseambankers Malaysia (now known as Maybank Investment Bank) and PriceWaterhouse Coopers (PWC).

Most recently, he served as Senior Director of Strategic Planning at Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (TERAJU) of the Prime Minister’s Department,
