KUALA LUMPUR (July 22): North America-based manufacturers of semiconductor equipment posted US$1.71 billion in orders worldwide in June 2016 (three-month average basis) and a book-to-bill ratio of 1.00, according to the US-based Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).

A book-to-bill of 1.00 means that US$100 worth of orders were received for every US$100 of product billed for the month.

In a statetement on its website on July 21, SEMI said the bookings figure was 2.1% lower than the final May 2016 level of US$1.60 billion, and is 10.2% higher than the June 2015 order level of US$1.55 billion.

SEMI president and CEO Denny McGuirk said although order activity slowed for the most recent month, billings activity for equipment companies based in North America are at their highest level since February 2011.
