KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 24): The National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (NCCIM) is urging the new Malaysian Government led by newly appointed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to maintain a pro-business stance, address economic grievances such as rising inflation and the weakening ringgit, while implementing reforms to reduce bureaucratic red tape and fight corruption.

“The appointment took place at a very critical stage in Malaysian history when we are still recovering from a bitter Covid-19 memory and a depressed economy although most businesses have recovered from the impact of the pandemic to a significant extent,” said NCCIM’s president Tan Sri Soh Thian Lai on Thursday.
 
Soh pledged that NCCIM will continue to support and work closely with the new Government and its agencies, by providing feedback on the ground to ensure the roll out of relevant and better public policies that would stimulate the economy and improve the well-being of the people.

“We are hopeful that Datuk Seri Anwar’s leadership will bring Malaysia’s economy to recovery and transformation. Above all else, there is a sense of optimism in the air and we look forward to a new era of progress in Malaysia,” he said.

NCCIM is the umbrella body comprising the Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPMM), The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM), the Malaysian Associated Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (MAICCI), the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MICCI) and the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).
