KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 12): Dewan Rakyat Speaker Datuk Azhar Azizan Harun said there is no Parliament cluster detected so far.

Only nine Covid-19 cases were reported, but all of the cases originated from the community, he told the lower house on Tuesday.

“All preventive measures have been taken to ensure this parliamentary session went smoothly by doing RTK-Antigen saliva test-kits [for all parliament members], as well as improving air quality in the Parliament building.

“As a result, nine [Covid-19] cases were detected, all of which appear to stem from the community. There are no infections or clusters in Parliament.

It was reported on Monday (Oct 11) that Bangi Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Ong Kian Ming tested positive for Covid-19, without having any symptoms. He is now undergoing home quarantine.

The First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 14th Parliament ended on Tuesday, after a 17-day sitting.

Azhar said the Dewan Rakyat meeting has been adjourned to an unspecified date.
