KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 15): Notion VTec Bhd announced today that some of its workers have been tested positive for Covid-19 and that the company has detected 87 positive and suspect cases thus far within its premises.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, the hard-disk drive manufacturer said that as a precautionary and preventive measure, the company has conducted Covid-19 tests on workers who have had close contact with the infected workers.

"There are 87 positive and suspect cases thus far and (they are) under treatment and quarantine. Employees who had close contact with the infected workers will also be placed under quarantine and isolation, and will undergo subsequent screening,” Notion VTec said.

According to Notion VTec, which also makes automotive components, the company has thoroughly disinfected its premises including office, factories, hostels and cafeteria which are located in Meru, Klang in Selangor.  

The company said its affected operation units are expected to resume operations within three days upon conducting disinfection procedures.

"The company will strictly adhere to the standard operating procedures issued by National Security Council and Ministry of Health and will continue to undertake precautionary and preventive measures for Covid-19 as part of the business continuity management.

"The company will also continue to work closely with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and health of all employees, business associates and visitors.

"The company will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates as new information becomes available,” Notion VTec said.

At 5pm today, Notion VTec’s share price closed down 6.5 sen or 6.53% at 93 sen for a market value of about RM479.04 million.

The stock saw some 49 million shares traded.
