<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>In a statement to the exchange today, construction and property firm Protasco said Chong had acquired 800,000 and 1.28 million shares last Tuesday (Nov 11) and yesterday (Nov 12) respectively.</div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>On Tuesday, Chong had purchased the shares at RM1.812 each. Yesterday, he acquired the shares at RM1.925 each.</div><div class=inPageAd id=div-gpt-ad-inpage></div>

<div class=newsTextDataWrapInner>Following these purchases, Chong's direct stake in Protasco rose to 12.87%. He also owns an indirect portion of 9.56%.</div>

CIMB Thai Bank PCL’s net profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2024 (1QFY2024) dropped 24.6% year-on-year to 626.1 million baht from 830.1 million baht, as it reported lower operating income and higher expenses.  

The group recorded an 8.4% drop in operating income and an 11.8% increase in operating expenses. The effects of these were partially offset by a 36.9% decline in expected credit loss, according to CIMB Thai president and chief executive officer Paul Wong Chee Kin in a statement.
