KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 22): ORENcloud, a Puchong-based open source development and implementation as well as provider of a range of solutions from telecommunications to cybersecurity, is seeing a sharp uptake of services during the current Covid-19 pandemic.

ORENcloud is a hosted IP PBX company with a vision to revolutionise voice, network monitoring and cybersecurity solutions.

It is wholly owned and supported by MSC-status company, Astiostech Sdn Bhd.

In an email interview with theedgemarkets.com, ORENcloud chief executive officer (CEO) Alfred Chong said cloud unified communications present a myriad of benefits to organisations, namely mobility, accessibility, flexibility, manageability and cost.

“Yet, there were still organisations reluctant to make the move.

“This reluctance was largely centred on concerns over data security, fears that a cloud telephony system would diminish data security and hinder an organisation’s ability to meet compliance,” he said.

Chong said ORENCloud found itself in a position to dispel any fears and misunderstanding of data security issues, and reassure organisations that needed a rapid solution to the way they communicated due to the global pandemic and remote working.

“We soon realised only a small percentage of businesses were ready and enabled to fit the modern business landscape of remote working, and businesses needed a partner who could understand their challenges, create a path forward, and, more importantly, be there for the transition and long term.

“We promptly stepped up by extending our products, Cloud Office and Cloud Call Centre, to all businesses of every type and size, so employees could move seamlessly between the office and remote locations, ensuring businesses could operate with minimal disruption and have optimal user experience,” said Chong.

He said industries such as banking and financial services which face heavy communications regulations would feel secure with ORENCloud telephony solutions.

Meanwhile, ORENCloud chief operating officer (COO) Frank Rovers said cloud-based telephony offers an increased level of security, and "we invest in innovative, intelligent security measures with our solution being monitored 24/7, and AI (artificial intelligence) to detect telephony and usage fraud.

“Every six months, our solution is tested by Elyton Asia Pacific, a globally recognised and award winning team of cybersecurity experts.

“A risk facing many companies by not embracing cloud telephony is that they will fall behind their competitors in terms of ensuring data security and meeting regulatory compliance,” said Rovers.

Chong also extended ORENCloud’s platform to frontline organisations it had been supporting since the first wave of the Covid-19 outbreak back in March 2020 without cost, including the psychiatric department of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), government agencies and other non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to ensure that their services were reachable during these times.

He said for inquiries for cloud communications, interested parties may visit www.orencloud.com to start a free trial.
