KUALA LUMPUR (June 12): Soo Hoo Khoon Yean is tipped to be the new managing partner for PwC Malaysia, sources say.

Soo is understood to be taking over from Sridharan Nair, the firm’s current managing partner who will be completing his term soon.

"Soo Hoo will be taking over the position from Sri as Sri has completed his maximum two terms as managing partner in PwC Malaysia. The two terms are 8 years in total," a source told theedgemarkets.com.

According to PwC’s website, Soo Hoo is currently the assurance leader for PwC Malaysia, and also leads the risk assurance services practice in Malaysia.

He has over 20 years’ experience in audit and business advisory, with a core expertise in the area of assurance, IFRS implementation and transaction services work.

Soo Hoo graduated from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. He majored in accounting and is a fellow member of ACCA.

He was previously a member of the ACCA Malaysia Advisory Council and Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).

He is currently a member of the Financial Reporting Standards Implementation Committee (FRSIC) in MIA and also chairman of the FRSIC Task Force for Financial Services Industry.
