KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 1): Telekom Malaysia Bhd has appointed the Employees Provident Fund's (EPF) chief digital technology officer Muhammad Afhzal Abdul Rahman as its non-independent and non-executive director.

He was nominated by EPF, a major shareholder of TM, the telecommunications group said in a bourse filing.

It said Muhammad Afhzal, 46, joined EPF in 2017 as the senior manager with the IT department and was promoted to the current position in 2019.

He has over 23 years of experience in technology in areas of strategy and architecture, business transformation and enablement, technology implementations for large scale enterprises in the financial services and oil and gas industries.

“Out of these, he spent over 16 years with global multinational organizations such as Maybank, Shell, T-Systems, DHL, IBM and Esso (now ExxonMobil) in the execution and implementation of strategic technology initiatives that deliver business outcomes,” added TM.

TM’s share price ended nine sen or 1.62% lower at RM5.47, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM79.46 billion.
