JAKARTA (Oct 9): Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, who is on a one-day working visit to Indonesia Tuesday, visited the Malaysian athletes competing in the Asian Para Games 2018 here.

She watched a badminton match at the Istora Senayan Stadium before meeting the athletes there.

Malaysia won its first gold medal of the games Tuesday through athlete Siti Noor Lasah in the 400m T20 event.

“I hope we will win more medals,” said Dr Wan Azizah. Also present were Malaysian Youth and Sports Minister Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman and the chef de mission of the Malaysian contingent, Lee Seng Chow.

Malaysia has targeted 15 gold medals with its participation in 15 of the 18 sports of the games.

The Para Asian Games 2018 were opened by Indonesian President Joko Widodo on Oct 6 and will go on until Oct 13.
