SEPANG (July 2): A working visit - site project inspection (Tinjauan Tapak Projek) by BP Healthcare was conducted at Gate G1, KL International Airport (KLIA) yesterday to prepare for the smooth running of the new Covid-19 Screening Facility which is opening soon.

At the facility, passengers travelling through KLIA will undergo Covid-19 screening tests.

BP Clinical Lab Sdn Bhd - through its collaboration with Malaysia Airports - will be providing state-of-the-art Covid-19 screening facilities at KLIA which includes an onsite Covid-19 laboratory in the airport itself.

This will allow test results to be churned out much quicker and passengers can therefore look forward to a shorter waiting time upon arrival.

BP Clinical Lab has the capability to produce RTK-Ag results targeted within 15 minutes and RT-PCR screening test results targeted within three hours.

Symptomatic passengers shall be segregated in designated isolation bays. If positive, they will be transferred to hospital accordingly. It is worth mentioning that this Covid-19 screening facility will not provide inpatient or outpatient treatment for Covid-19-positive passengers.

Among the facilities and services that will be provided include passenger escort from the arrival gate to the testing area, VIP service, as well as relaxing and comfortable waiting lounges.

The lounges are equipped with productivity tools such as computers, WiFi Internet access, portable WiFi rental and telecommunication SIM card, OTC pharmaceutical products, basic personal protective items like masks and face shields as well as F&B offerings.

As the passenger load increases, BP Clinical Lab and Malaysia Airports will establish more Covid-19 Health Screening Lounges at other gates within the airport to cater for the increased load.

Chief executive officer of BP Clinical Lab and executive director of BP Healthcare Garvy Beh said: "This collaboration is timely as the nation prepares to reopen its borders. Our aim is to ensure that all passengers entering the country are duly screened to protect the health and safety of our citizens.

"We are very pleased to be partnering with Malaysia Airports to provide Covid-19 tests and related value-added services to all passengers at the airports. With this, we hope that travellers can travel safely, comfortably and with peace of mind.

"Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, BP Healthcare has conducted multi-million RT-PCR tests nationwide. All our tests are recognized and of GOLD-STANDARD recommended by the MoH, IMR and FDA," he added.

Passengers will be able to pre-purchase their Covid-19 screening tests before departure on https://airport.doctor2u.my/ , the one-stop e-commerce platform that supports hundreds of different e-payment options as well as insurance claims ensuring a "Total Solution" and seamless travel experience for all passengers entering Malaysia.

To ensure staff safety and wellbeing, BP Clinical Lab will also be offering free Covid-19 RT-PCR screening tests to all its staff and has over 200 staff to operate the Covid-19 screening facility. The staff manpower will be increased as and when the passenger load increases.

BP Healthcare is always at the forefront of lab technological development and both Malaysia Airports and BP Clinical Lab are confident that the Covid-19 testing time can be further shortened with the advancement of the technology.

BP Clinical Lab was appointed by Malaysia Airports to provide the services and facilities at KLIA after a stringent tender exercise.

BP Clinical Lab has over 38 years' experience in the medical healthcare industry and has a proven track record in providing services to many government agencies such as MoH and Social Security Organisation (SOCSO).

BP Healthcare Group has more than 120 outlets nationwide and a large pool of medical personnel comprising qualified doctors and nurses, and the current health check system is also integrated with MySejahtera and SIMKA (owned by the National Public Health Laboratory to monitor outbreaks).
