KUALA LUMPUR: Gaming machine manufacturer RGB International Bhd has appointed former Kuala Lumpur Crime Investigation Department (CID) chief Datuk Gan Kong Meng as senior vice-president.

In a statement yesterday, RGB (fundamental: 1.7; valuation: 1.5) said Gan, who served as Kuala Lumpur CID chief until Jan 8 this year, would oversee RGB’s risk division.

“With his vast experience with the Royal Malaysia Police force, it will surely benefit the RGB Group in briefing the security and risk management of the group,” RGB said.

When contacted by The Edge Financial Daily, Gan said he is looking forward to his new role in the corporate sector.

“Policing is very different from the corporate world. I am looking forward to it as I will be working on the security and the integrity side [of the business],” he said.

“I will use my experience. You do not need to be an expert but it is all about being able to fit in the company,” he added.

Formerly serving as Timur Laut district police chief in Penang, Gan was appointed to head the Kuala Lumpur CID on March 3 last year. He has served in the police force for 39 years since Aug 28, 1976, during which he held various senior positions such as the officer-in-charge (OIC) of the police district of George Town, Penang, and also OIC of criminal investigation of Kuala Lumpur.

RGB manufacturers electronic gaming machines, table games and amusement machines for casinos. It has operations in Malaysia, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Singapore, Macau and the Phillipines.

RGB shares closed unchanged at 15.5 sen yesterday, with a market capitalisation of RM182.92 million. Some 12 million shares changed hands.
