KUALA LUMPUR (May 18): Parliament today has rejected two controversial questions put forward by PKR's Rafizi Ramli on the "dirt cheap" sale of the Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) by 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) and calls by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad urging Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to resign.

Rafizi today received the rejection letters for the two questions from Parliament office, which is on the first day of the Parliament sitting. Rafizi had put forward the questions to Parliament on April 12; the questions were supposed to be answered by the MoF and Najib within this Parliamentary session sitting.

"He has taken the avenue of using the Parliament office to reject the questions.

"This (act) is disgraceful to the Parliament and looks like he cannot face Mahathir.

"What more on TRX ... the questions on the decision by the government to sell a piece of land to 1MDB at dirt-cheap price at RM64 psf is now public knowledge and it has courted much controversies the last two to three week," he told reporters at the Parliament lobby today.

According to Rafizi, Parliament had rejected his questions on grounds that the questions were merely asking for one's opinion.

Rafizi had asked the MoF to respond to allegations by Mahathir that the federal land measuring 70 acres in TRX was sold by 1MDB at RM320 million, RM64 psf when the price of the land was RM7,000 psf.

In the other question, Rafizi asked the prime minister to respond if he agrees to Mahathir's calls for Najib to resign from his position saying that Umno and BN will lose in the coming elections (PRU-14).

Former prime minister and Umno president Mahathir has been waging a campaign to replace Najib, saying that Umno and BN will lose if Najib remains in power. His frequent criticism of Najib has supposedly opened a rift among Umno grassroots members.
