KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 6): Samaiden Group Bhd, the renewable energy (RE) and environment solutions provider, has teamed up with a Sarawak-based firm to provide solutions for the RE market in East Malaysia.

Samaiden said that under the three-year deal with Sinowaja (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, the two parties will initially focus on projects related to solar photovoltaic (PV), as well as smart or microgrid systems.

Samaiden’s scope of work will include supplying the necessary products and technical support to Sinowaja, while Sinowaja will support in design and research and development, particularly in solar PV projects.

Sinowaja is an integrated power solution provider of innovative and efficient solutions to the electric power industry. The company undertakes project management of turnkey projects related to electrical transmission and distribution system.

In a statement, Samaiden group managing director Chow Pui Hee said the collaboration is synergistic and aligned to the group’s intention as an RE specialist to expand geographically.  

At the same time, it provides Samaiden's RE knowhow to Sinowaja, which is a seasoned power solution provider in East Malaysia, eyeing to tap into the RE industry, she said. 

“With sustainability being the forefront of Sarawak’s development agenda, alongside its possession of abundant natural resources, we anticipate substantial investments in the RE industry from both the private and public sectors in the coming years, to electrify the region with clean energy.

“Consequently, this will provide ample business opportunities for us as one of the leading RE engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning providers in Malaysia, as we bring our expertise into this market,” she added.

Samaiden’s shares price closed down two sen or 1.82% at RM1.08 on Thursday (Jan 6), giving the group a market capitalisation of RM231 million.
