  • KONE Academy is to cater exclusively to Malaysia's growing market
  • This will be the first training facility dedicated solely to the training of technicians and partners in the Malaysian market.

KONE, a global leader in the Elevator and Escalator Industry, celebrated the opening of KONE Academy -the latest training center to open in Malaysia exclusively for the Malaysian market. The facility was inaugurated this morning by the President and CEO of KONE Corporation Mr. Henrik Ehrnrooth and the Executive Vice President of Asia Pacific, Mr. Axel Berkling in the presence of the leadership team and other employees of Malaysia. The new training facility will include a classroom for soft skills and lecture-based training, two mock up elevator shafts for installation and service training, an e-learning center, KONE products showroom with Lift Car Interior design, and motor simulators. The investment will facilitate enhanced customer support and provide the opportunity to encourage and develop quality and safety procedures. This center will help enhance skills of our own people so that they are able to serve customers better.

Speaking on the occasion Mr. Henrik Ehrnrooth said, "The importance of the service business is increasing. At KONE we will continue to develop how we provide proactive support to customers to add value to their business. The new academy builds on KONE's mission to improve the flow of urban life as well as our commitment to safety and quality."

Urbanization continues to support the growth of our industry. "The Asia Pacific region has a high growth potential and it is important that we focus on growing these markets. We are in the right place and it is essential that we understand customer needs and upgrade our solutions proactively. Safety and quality play a key role when we deliver our solutions and this academy will help us in working with our customers in these areas," said Mr. Axel Berkling, EVP, Asia Pacific.
